Roy Howat – Managing Director
After gaining a practical knowledge in Engineering with ICI, Turners GMS Falkland Islands and Scottish Water, Roy started his planning career in 1989 working in both maintenance and project planning roles in the UK and overseas and In 1998 Roy formed Alba Planning Consultants Ltd.
Roy’s passion is planning whether working on detailed engineering schedules or high level strategy plans he is in his comfort zone. Roy works well in both a team lead or integrated team member roles bringing drive, enthusiasm, honesty and a wealth of knowledge to the project or programme environment.
Roy has worked in a range of industries including, water, semi-conductor, rail, energy, infrastructure, nuclear, pharmaceutical, Vitamin and Airport sectors. Clients include, Bi-Water Leslie JV, DSM, DSRL, First Engineering, George Leslie Ltd, GSK, IBM, M+W Zander, Motorola, Merrit Merrel Technology, Philips, Rolls Royce NPS, Roche Products, SSEN and UKAEA.
Roy has managed planning and project teams in the UK, China, USA, Germany and France with project and programme values ranging from £50k to over £2bn.
Roy is a project management professional gaining certification through Lancaster University in 1998. He has worked in a range of roles including Contract Management, Planning and Programme Management, Planning Trainer and PMO Director.
Fiona Howat – Finance and Quality Director
Fiona is co-owner and director of Alba Planning Consultants Ltd. She has experience in a variety of roles including, auditing, office management and finance. Fiona has worked both in the UK and overseas undertaking management roles in major projects in China, USA and Germany.
Fiona is a qualified auditor and is responsible for compliance. Fiona produces, maintains and improves company procedures and undertakes the Achilles UVDB accreditation audit on an annual basis.
Fiona has developed and implemented a range of Document management systems for a number of clients including, M+W Zander, IBM, Motorola, George Leslie Ltd and SSE.
D Edwards – Associate Director – Project Controls & PMO
David has a proven track record in the Project Management & Control of Major Projects and Programme of work within the Rail, Electricity Transmission & Distribution, Renewable Energy, Water, Engineering & Construction sectors.
With over 30 years’ relevant experience, David has demonstrable ability to lead the Project Team, manage change and communicate effectively at all levels within Alliances, JV’s, Client, and Contracting Organisations. He has been a key member of project teams who have successfully delivered complex projects and major programmes of work safely, on time, within budget, to comply with governance requirements, technical requirements, and deliver the benefits to stakeholders.
Throughout his career, David has successfully performed a number of roles including Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, Project Director, Programme Manager, and Project Controls Manager.
